Travel Notes: california coast

ENTRY XXXI · XI.XXX.MMXXIII

My recent travels to the California coast brought lots of sun, coastal views of the sparkling ocean, and an abundance of inspiration. This is my fourth year in a row visiting some good friends in Ventura where our trip began. After finding our way to some coffee at Singing Sun, we began the journey north. Despite a roadblock due to a landslide shutting down the PCH, it merely redirected us toward an array of desert ranches exuding quintessential western charm.

WHAT I WORE:

CARMEL

Our journey north culminated in the quaint town of Carmel. If you’ve yet to experience Carmel, I would highly recommend. Filled with an abundance of restaurants where land meets sea, there is something for everyone. We spent the weekend in a cabin right outside of town, this was the perfect spot and we will definitely be coming back and opting for their glamping option next time!

SANA YNEZ VALLEY

A major highlight of the week was our day trip to the Santa Ynez Valley, a region brimming with charming desert wine towns. We started with lunch at Matteis Tavern in Los Olivos. The Inn’s picturesque grounds are gorgeous and we are dreaming of coming back to stay here one day. We spent the afternoon with wine tastings at the dreamiest wineries that transported us to the countryside of Italy. Outside of wine tastings, there is an abundance of antique stores, farm to table spots, and cafes.
